As we have learned from our history studies, it was a bitterly cold winter after the Pilgrims first landed in America. They were able to survive by the generosity of the Native Americans that shared food with them. To repay their new friends, the Pilgrims held a three-day feast. The bounty they shared included dried fruits, boiled pumpkin, turkey, venison and other foods. A slightly different menu from what we are accustomed to but no doubt a delightful feast at that time. Over the many years the theme of a celebration of harvest has continued to be a cherished event. We think of Thanksgiving as a time to give thanks for our foundation of this great Nation and for family and friends. It is also the official start of the holiday season and a special time of fellowship with those closest to us. Show a Veteran how much you appreciate their sacrifice for our freedom this coming Veterans Day with gorgeous flowers from Radebaugh Florist

Radebaugh Florist Veterans Day on November 11th has an interesting and meaningful history. In 1918 on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, all major hostilities of World War I were formally ended.  Veterans Day was initially referred to as Armistice Day and was created to celebrate the service of all U.S. military veterans. A wonderful gesture of complete respect and appreciation for their sacrifices is to honor a Veteran on this special day by giving them a flower arrangement or plant from Radebaugh Florist. In 1919, President Woodrow Wilson gave a memorable speech where he highly commended the men and women of the United States military. "To us in America the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country's service, and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of nations". Other countries celebrate both Armistice Day and Remembrance Day in remembrance to the end of World War I. In 1954, Veterans Day became the official name in the US to honor our military men and women. Veterans Day differs from Memorial Day. While both days honor our military, Memorial Day is designated to honor those who died while fighting for our country. Veterans Day is designated to honor all of the military folks who have served our [...]

Get Ready with Labor Day Festivities with Flowers from Radebaugh!

Just around the corner is September, starting with Labor Day on the first Monday of the month. This year, that's September 6th. Many just view it as a three-day weekend to commemorate the unofficial end of summer. For many, it also means school starts soon. However, Labor Day holds more importance than that. The holiday was created to recognize American workers who contribute so much to our country. They fuel local and national economies, including small business owners, entrepreneurs, and freelancers. Although not everyone gets Labor Day off unfortunately, we still can take this day and show those hard workers we know and love some attention. And, we can celebrate our own hard work! We certainly appreciate and acknowledge the incredible work and talent of those who work at our Baltimore flower shop. They go out of their way to ensure our customers get what they want, putting their creativity to work each day. As a business owner, you might want to consider a petite bouquet for each of your team to show thanks for their hard work. In addition, you might include a unique gift card and message to show your appreciation. You can also do this for those in your life that may not get as much appreciation as they should for their hard work. For example, if you know someone who owns a business or is starting one up, they could use a little encouragement this Labor Day so they realize others see and appreciate their efforts. This is particularly [...]
